Beatles – “Love Me Do”
I can’t let this day go by without acknowledging that today (Oct 5) is the 50th Anniversary of the release of the very first Beatles song in the United Kingdom. The Beatles released “Love Me Do” as a single on this date in 1962. It was part of their first album “Please Please Me” which reads like a greatest hits of Beatles songs. “Love Me Do” only got to number 17 on the British charts, but two years later, when Beatlemania hit the United States, the song had no trouble becoming one of the many number one songs the Beatles had in 1964. This was the year when they pretty much ruled the charts. And, I think this goes along rather nicely with Paul McCartney week.
