Happy Birthday Beach Boys Brian Wilson
I feel bad that I missed Paul McCartney’s birthday on Monday. He was 70 years old. We once saw him in Vegas and even though we sat way up in the nosebleed seats, it was a great show. Today, however, is another important birthday. Since I am working on a Beach Boys book (be out in a few days), I thought you should know that today is Brian Wilson’s birthday. He also is 70, today. And coincidentally, I will be 70 on my next birthday in October. All the great people were born in 1942.
Brian was and still is the heart of the Beach Boys, even though he didn’t play with them for years. But, all of the remaining living original members of the Beach Boys just did a new album together “That’s Why God Made the Radio”. I’ve heard it, it’s great. How can they harmonize and sing like that at their age? I can barely squeak out a tune in church.
Happy Birthday, Brian.
Here is their first Top 40 record from back in 1962, “Surfin’ Safari”. That’s Mike Love as the lead vocal. Enjoy:
