John Lennon Week
OK, I’m not going to do a “week” every week, but this week, I need to do another one. Tomorrow, Oct 9, is my birthday, but more importantly it’s John Lennon’s birthday. So, since we talked a little about Paul last week, I think we should talk a little about John this week. The Lennon/McCartney team wrote some of the best music heard in the Sixties and it is still great today. But, let’s just talk about John this week.
After John met Yoko Ono, but before he the Beatles broke up, he and Yoko held two “bed-ins for peace” in which they would stay in bed for a week. This was to protest the Vietnam War. The first single John had as a solo performer was written during one of these “bed-ins”. “Give Peace a Chance” was a pretty decent hit, peaking at number 14 in the United States.
