Lead Singer of The Troggs, Reg Presley, Passes Away
I don’t want this blog to turn into an obituary column, but the sad fact is that a lot of the performers from the golden age of rock and roll are passing away. People who were famous in the Fifties are largely gone. And one by one, we are losing the people from the Sixties.
Yesterday, we lost Reg Presley after fighting lung cancer for over a year. He was 71. You say you don’t recognize the name? Well, he was the lead singer of the British group The Troggs. I know, if you’re old enough, you remember “Wild Thing”, a number one song from 1966. The Troggs were part of the British Invasion of the Sixties.
However, I’d like to spotlight my favorite Troggs song, “Love is All Around”. It hit number 7 in 1968. There are many videos of this song on YouTube, I took the one that shows the band older, in 2009. I have always liked this song:
