Very few artists have had the same song on the charts in two different versions. There may be others, but today I’m remembering Neil Sedaka. He wrote “Breaking Up is Hard To Do” as an uptempo early rock and roll song that spent two weeks at number one in 1962. Then 13 years later, in 1975, he re-recorded the same song as a ballad. I like both versions, but I’m a little partial to the rocking version. Here is Neil lip-syncing to the earlier version:
