Paul and Linda McCartney were married on March 12, 1969 at the Marylebone Registry Office in a small civil ceremony. When I picture the marriage, I pictured a quiet little English registry office and two people quietly getting married. Not so. There is a video on YouTube which shows the couple as they are leaving the registry office. They are literally mobbed with people and reporters asking about the marriage and how they felt, etc. The announcer is saying, it’s time to weep, girls, Paul is off the market. And, in fact, several of the girls in the crowd are opening crying at the thought that the most eligible bachelor in England had tied the knot.
