Paul McCartney Week
I think it is time to ramp this blog up and really deliver some good content. I am going to try to do a better job of posting to it and hope that anyone who reads it will enjoy it.
I am currently working on a new book about Paul McCartney, so I thought I would honor him throughout this week.
A couple weeks ago, I saw the PBS special “Kisses on the Bottom” which features Paul and Diana Krall along with several other big stars like Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder as they sang songs from their new album of the same name. This is a Paul we haven’t seen before. He’s gone mainstream and it’s great. I can hardly wait to get the album and enjoy the music. Here is a video from YouTube which is from that special. The song is actually called “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter” which was a number three hit by Billy Williams back in 1957. But the song goes much further back than that. Fats Waller originally did the song back in 1935. It goes to show that great music just never dies. Here’s Paul’s version:
