Paul McCartney Week – “Band on the Run”
Paul got his second number one song in the United States with the title song from “Band on the Run”. This is an interesting song. It is basically divided into three parts. The first is slow and melodic; the
second is more of a moderate pop sound. The third and longest part of the song is more of a rocker.
When I first heard this song back in 1974, I assumed he was talking about Wings as the band on the run. But after watching the official video of the song which is on YouTube, it appears to be more of a tribute to the Beatles. The line “If we ever get out of here” was said by George Harrison every time the group had a business meeting back in the Sixties.
