I’m sad to report that Phil Everly died last night. I saw the notice on MSN just before going to bed and was really saddened by the news. Phil was 74 years old and it is said that he died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which was the result of smoking his entire life. The Everly Brothers were my favorite group in the 50’s. I liked them even more then Elvis and when I started writing my little books on rock and roll legends, they were the first book. My wife and I saw them briefly in 2005 when they toured with Simon & Garfunkel. They sang just three songs, but it was the highlight of the concert for me. I’m so glad I got to see them in person.
