The Beatles Rule in 1964
On this day (Apr 4) in 1964, The Beatles held down the top five spots on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the first time a band or an individual had ever done this and, as it turns out, it was also the last time. It’s never been done since. The songs were (1) Can’t Buy Me Love, (2) Love Me Do, (3) Roll Over Beethoven (4) I Want to Hold Your Hand and (5) Please, Please Me. They also had nine other singles in the Hot 100. It truly was Beatlemania. Here’s a crazy video of the number one song taken from some TV show in the Sixties.
