The Beginning of the Doors
Working on the Doors as my next Kindle book. We all know Jim Morrison, the leader of the group, but before the group got together, Morrison lived at Venice Beach, CA and was a part of the bohemian culture there. He wrote poetry and read it in local coffee houses. He ran into the second member of the Doors on Venice Beach, Ray Manzarek, who became their keyboardist. Jim had known him from school but they had never worked together. Jim showed Ray the words of a song he had been working on called “Moonlight Drive” and Ray immediately saw the potential of the song. “Moonlight Drive” was recorded on their second album, “Strange Days” and has a real Sixties feel to it. I wonder if you remember “Moonlight Drive”:
